plus an exhibition offering food for thought on the beauty front …
HAIR RESTORER
The sea swimming is all very well but can play havoc with your hair. Some hair masks cost a fortune – one new launch is €60 for 50ml – but you can pick up a hair mask for €12: Seoulista Beauty Glossy Locks, at pharmacies. Think of it as an instant facial mask but for hair, with hydrating and protective ingredients to relieve damage.
SKIN RELIEF
Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturising Lotion is designed specially for very dry skin, with hard-working natural ingredients such as the Probiotic Triple Oat Complex and nourishing shea butter for lasting relief frrom dry and flaky skin. From €6.12 (200ml). If you’ve been lucky enough to see some sun, or even chilly salty sea water, this is a good option – in generous sized bottles – to restore your skin with. www.aveeno.ie
NATURAL LIP SMOOTHERS
A lip treat for under €25? bareMinerals Mineralist Lip Gloss-Balms look good and feel great – somehow we’re finding full-on matte lipsticks a bit much for now, and would rather wear something comfortable and easy, more of a sheer colour that doesn’t dry out lips. These are juicy with fruit oils so that they feel hydrating and silky, and the colours are summery and flattering (and vegan formulas). Plus they’re not sticky so won’t stick to your mask. Choose from salted caramel shade Adventure through to beautiful berry Zen. €24.50, at www.Boots.ie.
PS …
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
A current exhibition at SO Fine Art Editions could be worth a look if you’re in town. The gallery is currently showing recent graduates from NCAD and student Marta Szymczyk has made beauty as her focus. She examines and exposes the complex world of make-up and its role in our planet’s future. Szymczyk voices her concerns as well as proposes alternative ideas about the beauty industry’s plastic waste, creating a platform for serious conversations around our environment and about plastic waste.
