10 Beauty Trends On Our Radar This Year

Ten of the most exciting beauty arrivals to brighten up the winter months, from blossom-inspired perfume to a chic silver eyeliner …

THE BODY CARE

Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Beauty has expanded into body care. We love the minimalist navy and white gender-free packaging. The collection includes body lotion, oil, scrub, cream and shower gel, all with a light citrus and floral scent that’s fresh and sunny.

Also just landed is Jo Malone London’s new Care Collection, again in fuss-free packaging to suit everyone’s bathroom (modern minimalist brands such as Necessaire are very influential right now). It features everything from shower gel to body cream; most aspirational (and priced accordingly) is the Enrich Body Balm with rose, camomile and cedarwood.

THE PERFUMES

A new Frederic Malle scent is always intriguing – hold on to your vouchers until February 1 for this one. Perfumer Annick Ménardo is renowned for countless creations including Lolita Lempicka perfumes, Acqua di Gio for Giorgio Armani, Boss Bottled and Patchouli 24 for Le Labo. Her first scent for the peerless Malle collection is inspired by the Mediterranean Everlasting Flower, also known as Helichrysum or Immortelle, which has a sunny, dry, spicy warmth (you might know it from the L’Occitane Divine skincare range).

The first chypre fragrance from Kilian Paris, also out on February 1, is inspired by Japan and its Sakura blossoms via a blend of ambrette seeds, rose, cedarwood and cypriol with oakmoss for depth, plus a hint of peach. Delicious. Read more about the upcoming new Tom Ford, Figue Érotique.

THE EYE LUXURY

At the Victoria Beckham counter, there are new Satin Kajal Jewel Liner shades: Silver Glaze and Cocoa Pavé for a subtle hint of shimmer around the eyes. For January budgets, Hildun also has a silver liner.

THE LIP TREAT

We haven’t been excited about MAC make-up for some time – a shame, as in their heyday they were always the ones to watch. But we love the look of the Metamorphosis Glowplay Lip Balm in soft pink or coral, especially when paired with the Lipglass Plumping Oil as a golden topcoat. At counters nationwide.

THE DESTINATION

Sisley devotees will love the luxurious new counter at Brown Thomas Grafton Street in Dublin. Try out a “Matte Latte” look for spring – think warm, monochrome and sunlit via soft brown and caramel tones. We also recommend the Black Rose skincare line and impressive lip collection, especially the super-matte Phyto-Rouge Velvet lipsticks. I love the Colour Cloud lip and cheek colours too for a soft blurred finish (currently on sale at Space NK).

THE EYE BRIGHTENER

Poco Beauty has added a new Serum and Illuminating Eye Cream to their Universal Glow range – a lift for dull winter skin. Check out their fancy new counter at Brown Thomas Dundrum; also available at Dublin airport and online.

THE SKIN ESSENTIAL

CeraVe’s first suncare range is set to be as popular as its cleansers and moisturisers. Offering high UVA and UVB protection, it’s free from fragrance, non-comedogenic and hydrating, protecting the skin barrier with ceramides. The range includes an invisible Sun Stick SPF50 to lightweight creams with SPF30 and 50. At Boots from January 12.

THE SPRING HOME SCENT

Max Benjamin’s latest fragrance, Kyoto Blossom, is inspired by springtime in Japan with notes of bergamot, wild rose and lilac and a heart of Sakura blossom. It will be available from mid-February in everything from candles to diffusers and car fragrances, at select retailers nationwide and online.
