Located in pretty Blackrock, south Co Dublin and bustling Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork, Fran & Jane boutiques are owned by Fran Nolan and Jane Baker. Always managing to stay ahead of the fashion curve when it comes to the latest brands, both buzzy boutiques are local as well as destination stores for the stylish Irish shopper and have beautiful buys that will stand the test of time.
This season, the duo have introduced Ossie Clarke X Primrose Park’s covetable print dresses, a designer dress label on the cooler side of boho. Other current favourites are the labels Lily & Lionel (beautiful printed dresses and skirts) and Birgitte Herskind (think Danish minimalism) as well as Yerse, a great sustainable brand.
“Our customers come to us for the great pieces in their wardrobes that they can style in a multitude of ways,” says Jane. “Women no longer buy one piece for one occasion, instead they want a dress or a skirt that will look equally as good when paired with sneakers and a boyfriend cardigan or towering Terry de Havilland-style heels and a clutch. One thing we love about fashion is that there’s never just one way to wear something.”
The Gloss’s favourite pieces? The navy and white blossom-print Lara dress by Lily & Lionel and the floor-grazing Ossie Clarke for Primrose Park Ophelia dress in hot pink and red?with romantic angel sleeves. We’d team with stacked sandals and statement jewellery for evening or ankle boots and a gilet for everyday, all of which can be found instore.
No longer a boutique dedicated to special occasions, Fran & Jane puts a lot of emphasis on good service, a friendly atmosphere and great assortment of brands that focus on the way women want to dress now. For chic, interesting designer labels and great foundation pieces, Fran & Jane is hard to beat.
