Lucky Sutton. Daha Wellness is designed to be a one-stop destination to enhance and balance your general wellbeing, addressing everything from sleep, nutrition and movement. Importantly, it’s also a lovely place to hang out, with healthy food and snacks, plus excellent coffee.
Founder and CEO Aisling Hassell has a business background – she was head of customer experience globally for Airbnb – and clearly left no stone unturned in setting up Daha. The aim was to “make it easier for busy people to manage their wellbeing, offering a dedicated place for personalised and professional support.”
Hassell has brought together some brilliant Irish female founders here, including Dr Helena McMahon’s high-quality Seabody skincare, and Skin Formulas by Geraldine Jones, based in Co Tipperary. McMahon says: “We are delighted with the Daha partnership, it’s an amazing space and we are so very aligned.” Donal Skehan also had some input on the food side (he is a walking ad for the benefits of eating well) and he was behind the recommendation of Cloud Picker Coffee.
I first heard about Daha through Jenny Faison, an experienced facialist and therapist who’s in charge of the team of wellness practitioners here. The space itself is beautiful; all wood, curves and soft lighting, by Grainne Weber Design. There are six treatment rooms, with cutting-edge technology alongside traditional treatments, so you’ll find everything from Dermalux LED to reiki, reflexology, craniosacral therapy and acupuncture. Facials start from €70 for an express half-hour treatment (one hour from €125). They also offer consultations on gut health and sleep, for example, so you can deep-dive into specific concerns.
Try out the most unusual and of-the-moment treatment, Vibroacoustic Therapy (from €80 for 40 minutes). Sound therapy is a real focus when it comes to wellbeing now and this treatment, where you lie on a gently vibrating bed listening to soundwaves, is designed to “vibrate every cell in your body” and is intensely relaxing. It’s been found to have lots of benefits including helping with sleep, and reducing stress and anxiety. It’s an experience in itself and definitely a way to shut off entirely for a while – very appealing as we face a variety of storms in the outside world.
As for movement, there are classes in Pilates, Barre, Tai Chi and yoga (classes are €22 or buy a package, so 20 classes for €360 with no expiry date) – all made more colourful with Flowstate’s Maser-designed mats.
You can book a single treatment or join as a member, which is €499 for a year and includes lots of perks, including a free body composition analysis. If you join now, you get an Oura ring (they’re around €400 to buy) – the fitness tracker of the moment, tracking your sleep quality, as well as movement and exercise. We’re always being told that lots of celebs wear one; more interesting is that health experts do also, including the CEO of legendary Swiss health centre, Clinique La Prairie. Hassell swears by hers, finding it helps to improve the quality of sleep. After an acupuncture session, she says her sleep results were off the scale.
The whole venture is part of a growing movement in “preventative health” or not waiting until you’re ill to improve your general state of health and wellbeing, but taking positive steps to feel and be better. Keep an eye online at www.dahawellness.com for upcoming events and workshops.
