The Dior Cigale By Jonathan Anderson Is Set For ‘It’ Bag Status

When it comes to ‘It’ handbags Jonathan Anderson has designed some firm style favourites, including the Dior Cigale bag …

Named after creative director Jonathan Anderson’s “all-time favourite dress in the history of fashion”, the Cigale bag has joined the ranks of the Saddle and the Book Tote as a current favourite amongst the style set. First launched at the design house’s SS26 show, the design echoes that of La Cigale, the popular dress unveiled in Christian Dior’s autumn winter 1952-1953 haute couture collection. The Dior Cigale bag echoes its couture construction with a sculptural shape and signature bow which nods to the knotted belt of the dress. Firmly a celebrity favourite, it’s been carried by Charlie XCX, Greta Lee, Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway.

Launching this month is Dior’s Mini Cigale bag (pictured, above), a petite version of the Cigale which is already receiving buzz. We can envision this being teamed with indigo jeans and a black blazer for autumn.

Hard-launched at the Dior AW26 fashion show, it’s predicted the updated Toujours Hobo bag will be catnip for Dior collectors for the AW26 season. The design was first introduced by former creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri for the brand’s SS23 collection and now Anderson has upgraded it in a roomy hobo style designed for everyday use. Its neat enveloping shape is topped off with the house’s signature Dior letter charms. Spot it on: Monica Barbaro who teamed it with a ladylike full skirt and on the street style set at Copenhagen Fashion Week who dress it down with jeans and jackets.

A New Era For The Bow Bag

Earlier this year, Jonathan Anderson posted a photograph of the Bow bag ahead of the brand’s resort 27 catwalk show in Los Angeles which revives The
Christian Dior Daily newspaper print, first seen at the brand’s AW00 show when the house was helmed by John Galliano. Unsurprisingly, it’s created a buzz in the fashion world amongst style lovers who consider Carrie Bradshaw‘s newspaper print dress from the aforementioned collection to be the pinnacle of personal style.
