The Big Blush Rush: Our 5 Favourites For Summer

Our pick of the best summer blushers …

Summer beauty this year seems to be centred on lip liners from every brand including Merit, Westman Atelier, Hildun, TrinnyLa Beauté Louis Vuitton, as well as balmy lip colours to colour in with (try Westman’s, and also the Tom Ford Soleil lip balms in juicy summer shades).

And there’s also a rush on blush. Whether you’d rather use a stick format (Charlotte Tilbury’s are excellent) or dab on a sophisticated liquid blush (such as Victoria Beckham’s Colour Wash, a play on the old Benefit classic Benetint cheek stain), here are five excellent options.

We’re channelling make-up artist Nina Park’s “lit from within” approach to blush, applying a cream version high on the apples of cheeks.

THE HEALTHY GLOW

Chanel Les Beiges collections always deliver the healthiest, most glowing-looking skin in the easiest ways. This year’s Healthy Glow Blush (55), in strawberry red Sorbet, is a beauty: a silky, water-infused formula that’s hydrating. It also comes in purple Nectar, and as a soft pink highlighter.

THE BLUSH STICK

Victoria Beckham Beauty is big on blush this season. Not content with mastering the liquid blush with Colour Wash Water Tints, she’s just dropped Blush Stylus (€44), a precision blush stick in five lovely colours, from soft peach to rose pink and a cherry colour. They’re designed to be easy to use. Beckham explains: Blush is one of the most personal parts of my makeup  where I place it, the shade I use, the intensity I want. With Blush Stylus, I like to draw small marks on my cheeks and nose, and blend with my fingers. It’s quick, playful and always looks completely natural.

THE ON-THE-GO MINI

I use the Unreal Blush Sticks (€42) by Charlotte Tilbury regularly – the softly flattering formula glides on in a foolproof fashion, in shades of peach, pink and cherry. The Berry Glow shade is particularly good at capturing a wind-chilled effect – think Margot Robbie in Wuthering Heights being blasted by the rain. There’s a new mini version (€20), launching on July 16, available at counters nationwide.

THE LIQUID LOVELINESS

Tom Ford’s dazzling Soleil collection features two liquid Sunkissed Blushes (pictured here alongside the equally glam bronzer and highlighter compacts)  they’re possibly the best-looking blushes you’ve ever seen. In six shades from soft nude and peach to berry. €47 each, but they will last for ages – use a tiny drop and blend in well for a gorgeous soft effect.

THE MULTITASKER

With Poco Universal Cream Sticks (€23) for lips and cheeks, you get two in one. Choose from four shades; I like the coral Malibu shade.
