It’s time for a return to true personal style, whatever that looks like for you …

Dries Van Noten
COLOUR CRUSH
ON THE RUNWAY: Bold vermilion, shocking pink, radiant orange, pistachio – however you wear it, hot and optimistic colour is here.
HOW TO WEAR: Embrace bright colour for lips (inspired by the poppy reds at Chanel’s haute couture show), lashes and nails (tangerine and pistachio are delicious for spring) and boost your mood with a hit of rainbow-coloured dopamine.

Gucci
MODERN GOTHIC
ON THE RUNWAY: Dark lips aren’t for everyone (though the vinyl black looked fabulous at Prada). Yet even a touch of vamp can add an edge to spring fashion. Try graphic winged liner, as spotted at Simone Rocha, Bottega Veneta and Gucci.
HOW TO WEAR: Softly smudged eye make-up at Dior added an elegant twist to the enduring goth look; this is a look we can do. Our advice: steer clear of ‘greige’ tones – it wasn’t fl attering the fi rst time round, either.

METALLIC NAILS
ON THE RUNWAY: Retire the pastels and be dazzled by sharp chromes, iridescent and frosted metallic nail colours, especially silver, for a futuristic twist on spring dressing.
HOW TO WEAR: Try CND Vinylux in Silver Chrome (at www.5thavenue.ie), or Silver Lining or sparkly Fireworks (€11 each; www.14daymanicure.com). Shape-wise, go for oval or ‘pointed almond’, to suit your own nails.

Harris Reed
BRIGHT EYES
ON THE RUNWAY: Colourful eye make-up is back with a bang this spring. On catwalks such as Harris Reed, models wore swathes of ice-blue, copper, cobalt and even bubblegum pink across the eyes.
HOW TO WEAR: A riot of new, top-notch colour palettes makes it alluring yet easy to brave a splash of denim blue or lilac on your lids, with light but long-stay formulas. Take inspiration too from the coloured mascara and spiky lashes at Dries Van Noten.

Hermès
HAIR ON THE SIDE
ON THE RUNWAY: The sleek side-partings at Hermès brought a clean edge to spring beauty looks, and made us want to experiment. It was also a nod to another key look on the SS25 catwalks, slickedback hair.
HOW TO WEAR: If you have the length, try smoothed hair and a side parting with a plait, chignon or French twist, as at Richard Quinn. Easier to achieve for most of us than a bombshell blowdry.

Versace
CHERRY LIPS
ON THE RUNWAY: The predictable return to pastel shades every spring can become boring, so we’re embracing a flush of darker cherry shades instead this year. As seen at Versace, decadent rich berry lip colours work well with spring fashion.
HOW TO WEAR: A wave of intensely light and hydrating lip colours gives a new modernity to richer shades; opt for glossy tints so easy to apply you don’t need a mirror. Try wearing them with a bare face and no mascara for a fresh modern look, or just a touch of toning blush.
