Jessie Buckley’s Red Carpet Dressing Rule Is Surprisingly Simple

Amidst the looks from Chanel, Dior and The Row, Jessie Buckley has hit upon a red carpet style formula …

While some A-listers such as Margot Robbie fully commit to a red carpet persona – see the Wuthering Heights promotional train (which has birthed a lot of Margot Robbie style moments) – Irish actress Jessie Buckley has embraced a rarified aesthetic that’s quickly earned her kudos in the fashion world. Classic but not sedate, Buckley has been dressed by the crème de la crème of fashion houses of late. Think: Dior, The Row, Valentino and, of course, Chanel. The theme of these looks – notwithstanding her red and pink Oscars dress which is thought to be an homage to Grace Kelly – is surprisingly simple: a palette of black and white. The other thing they have in common? They’ve been curated by cool-girl stylist Danielle Goldberg, who is behind red carpet looks for Zoë Kravitz, Kendall Jenner and Ayo Edebiri.

We first spotted this striking Chanel look at Matthieu Blazy’s Métiers d’art 2026 show, which took place in the New York subway, so it feels apt that Buckley wore it with aplomb to the premiere of The Bride in New York City. It features a black turtleneck and a feathered full skirt emblazoned with a white and turquoise cheetah print.

A custom Balenciaga black dress with a white sash – teamed with the perfect shade of red on the lips – nods to old Hollywood glamour.

A striking sheer black dress from Maison Margiela’s Artisanal 2024 collection is offset by white corsetry.

At the Critics Choice Awards, Buckley wore a look from Dior by Jonathan Anderson with Boucheron jewellery.

Proving that black and white is always a sharp choice, Buckley’s Chanel two-tone dress may be classic but it’s anything but boring.
