Hello/Goodbye To These Dublin Cafés This Year

A host of new openings and a fond farewell – for now …

Scéal Bakery

Founders Charlotte and Shane have had a busy start to the year with two new location announcements. The first, a new bakery at Wilton Park in Dublin 2, opening onto the park’s restored Victorian fountain. In a heartfelt letter to customers, they thanked Dublin 8 for giving them their start and announced another Scéal Bakery on South Circular Road, in place of Little Bird Café which is now focusing on their yoga studio on the top floor.

Volumes

Founded by The Dublin Coffee Guide creator Paddy Kirk @dubstreetcafe, this Scandi-style café, design and event space at George’s Quay is inspired by Copenhagen‘s famous coffee shops. Right next to Tara Station, it promises to be a hit with commuters, especially when there’s a queue at THE GLOSS team favourite, Shoe Lane.

Tír Deli

This popular deli on Hatch Street Upper is coming to Custom House Quay in the Docklands, perfect for visitors to EPIC Museum that sits in the vaults of the beautifully restored CHQ building. Other cafés include an obligatory Starbucks and The Bakehouse, which offers a free mini muffin with every hot drink.

Morilles Coffee

Founded in 2020, with stops at The Kiosk in Rathgar, Rathfarnham, Ballinteer, a drive-thru in Stillorgan and a new Rathmines location, Morilles Coffee uses the finest South American coffee beans roasted in Dún Laoghaire. They also offer ice cream for little ones.

Butlers Chocolates

Drumcondra locals will be pleased to hear that a new Butlers Chocolates coffee trailer is now accessible just off Griffith Avenue in Griffith Wood Estate, serving Butlers‘ beloved coffee, matcha and a selection of sweet treats, including the mini chocolate bars in every flavour.

Two Fifty Square Coffee Roaster

Goodbye … for now! While the Rathmines location closes after 12 years, where founders Adam, Louis and Chrissy’s journey began, the Terenure and Ranelagh cafés will remain open. There’s also plans for a new 6000 sq ft coffee mecca in the works, so stay tuned.
