Check out these three new spots for a treat before or after a refreshing walk …
Morilles at The Kiosk, Rathgar
The Walk: The Dodder River
Morilles has set up shop in place of the beloved Rathgar Kiosk in the well-established south Dublin suburb. Following a serious renovation, the Dodder Walk is the perfect location for this new haunt with its unique setting on Orwell Road, beside Orwell Park. Doing what Morilles does best – as proven by the Rathfarnham and Stillorgan locations – pop in for a coffee, pastry, cake or loaf of bread to take with you on your way, or perch at one of the side counters and stools. No doubt this will become the place to be after a walk along the Dodder River.
Dublin Bay Caffé, 29 Main Street Baldoyle
The Walk: Baldoyle Bay
Located right by the sea walkway, this spot is great for grabbing a coffee to go before you begin your walk to Baldoyle Bay, or for sitting upstairs afterwards to enjoy the sea views. It’s already had glowing reviews, with wheelchair access and parking available at the front of the café, which can sometimes be an issue in busy areas. Pastries, cheescake, ice cream, carrot cakes and specialty coffee are all on offer. It’s pet-friendly too, which is an added bonus.
Sprout, Monkstown
The Walk: Dun Laoghaire Pier / Sea Point
It won’t be news to many that Sprout has opened its eighth restaurant in Dublin and Kildare, doors down from Avoca where co-owner Jack had his first kitchen job as a commis chef. This is a very exciting development for Jack and Theo as it’s their first venture into the suburbs. All of their opening day sales were donated to Barnados, and we’d expect nothing less from these budding entrepreneurs. It’s guaranteed to be a hub for hungry swimmers, walkers, cyclists and tourists looking for a healthy fix.
