You won’t have a moment this month, what with all the cultural happenings: design, literature and gardening festivals going on …
THE GLOSS and THE GLOSS Interiors are joining forces with Design Week Dublin, May 19-25, an exciting new initiative with official partner Range Rover, showcasing Ireland’s internationally recognised architects and interior designers. An exciting line-up of speakers includes LA-based architect Paul McClean, London-based Bryan O’Sullivan and New York-based Katie Harbison, as well as brilliant interior designers and architects who are based in Dublin. Furniture and fashion design will also feature, with a fun drinks party or two and a special Wine & Design dinner at Forbes Street by Gareth Mullins – the flagship venue is Anantara the Marker at Grand Canal Square. Browse events and book tickets here.
In 1929, when the iconic Irish artist Eileen Gray designed a house for herself on the Riviera, the result was a modernist triumph, a house-cum-work of art, and it became an obsession for the architect Le Corbusier. E.1027 – Eileen Gray and the House by the Sea opens in cinemas.
The International Literature Festival Dublin includes over 200 events across fiction, non-fiction, poetry, film, music and performance, for all ages. The exciting mix includes Kit de Waal, Roxanne Gay, Constance Debré, Javier Cercas, Ece Temelkuran, David Park, Seán Ronayne and Wendy Erskine.
U2’s Adam Clayton will take part in the inaugural Fashion and Farming Festival in Kinsale, Co Cork along with Henrietta Courtauld and Bridget Elworthy of The Land Gardeners, stylist Bay Garnett and The Eden Project’s Tim Smit. And Bord Bia Bloom in Dublin’s Phoenix Park returns for its 19th year this June bank holiday weekend.
