Opening this week with Birds, an Irish-international dance troupe taking a birds-eye view of the world, exploring current affairs through a unique show blending contemporary dance, circus artistry and something called KRUMP – an energetic, expressive hip-hop dance style characterised by intense, sharp, and exaggerated movements like stomps, chest pops, and arm swings. Irish Champions Festival, Co Dublin & Kildare | September 13-14

Hosted by Kerry Writers’ Museum in Listowel, the town will welcome storytellers from Ireland, the UK, US, Spain and Morocco for four days of live performances, music, folklore talks, poetry, creative workshops, and family-friendly events.
Clifden Arts Festival, Co Galway | September 17-28
We’re always up for a visit to Connemara where this year’s festival includes performances by Cork’s White Horse Guitar Club, Hot House Flowers and All Folk’d Up, offering a lively take on trad music. Novelist Donal Ryan joins the literary line-up alongside a reading with playwright Marina Carr and poet Mary O’Malley. The visual arts programme is a journey in itself: Eoin O’Malley’s storm paintings are based on meterological maps, painted by mouth, while Japanese land artist Mayumi Nakabayashi will transform St Mary’s Chapel into a sanctuary of natural mandalas, inviting visitors to witness and take part in the creative process.
