Feeling the chill? Socks and ballerinas, or socks and loafers, needn’t feel clunky. Choose a tonal pair of socks that tie with the rest of your outfit and it will look completely streamlined. Our current favourites are classic black or an expensive-looking shade of tobacco that will pair perfectly with black leather loafers.

Just because it’s getting colder doesn’t mean you have to shun a statement jacket in favour of a coat. Instead, simply layer one under your favourite coat and treat it as an under-layer, much like a cardigan. It’s the perfect thing to pair with jeans for a shot of instant glamour.

Check, please! An extra long houndstooth scarf is an ideal way to jazz up an otherwise sedate outfit.

A chocolate brown suede trench is possibly the most covetable piece of the season. We love it paired with a brushed cashmere cardigan, straight-leg jeans and loafers, as seen here.

Proof that cargo pants aren’t just a summer trend, style up these trousers for winter with a utilitarian denim jacket and a pair of boating shoes. Finish with a great knit (shop an edit of our favourites here) around your shoulders.

Speaking of great knits, we love how tactile a super-soft grey jumper is when paired with a sleek leather jacket in a shade of deep brown.

Dressing up? Team a black turtleneck with printed trousers and an outré pair of earrings. Not only will the knitwear mean you’ll stay warm, it’s a relatively low maintenance look that can be turned around from desk to dinner.

Hello, winter whites! In case you had any doubt as to whether the colour works well for this time of the year, let this head-to-toe look convince you otherwise. Additionally, take a leaf out of Sienna Miller’s book, who included a three-piece winter white suit in her latest party dressing collaboration with Marks & Spencer

We’re never not coveting the perfect shearling coat – this one, paired with jeans and on-trend pair of trainers, is the ultimate Sunday strolling outfit.

Upgrade jeans and trainers with a boho-luxe blouse. Trust us: it’s the one piece you’ll want to have on speed-dial for the upcoming party season.
