Bowling Bags Are Trending: Here’s How To Wear Them Now

This nostalgic, Y2K trend has a new verve …

For those who remember bowling bags from when they were last popular in the 2000s, the resurgence of this handbag trend is probably a little jarring. However, before you dismiss it, there are a couple of things you should know.

Firstly, the bowling bag trend in 2025 is more muted. Leaving behind any athletic or outré associations, the bowling bag has been backed by leaders in the quiet luxury (are we still using that term?) zone, New York brands such as Khaite and The Row. They’re practical, roomy and come in muted tones like tan, black, grey and brown. Think of it as roomy upgrade to the do-it-all shoulder bag trend that’s proliferating right now. Meanwhile, Miu Miu has championed the trend in a big way. Its cognac suede iterations – see the house’s viral Beau bag – are the zenith of luxury, tapping into both the trend for minimal luxe handbags and the current popularity of brown suede.

How do you wear them in 2025? We’re seeing bowling bags styled with further noughties references such as capri pants. However, if in doubt, we’d advise to lean into classic separates such as a long spring coat, jeans and trainers or ankle boots, for a classic look that you can wear on repeat.
