Time to get prepping …
This month’s fashion shoot champions a fresh, luminous make-up look, created by Brown Sugar Make-Up Manager Dearbhla Keenan, who focused on making model Chloé Hirschman’s skin glow. It makes us want to book a learning session with Dearbhla at the Brown Sugar Make-up Bar; a session with a professional is a great way to refresh your look for the new season.
Chloé’s hair got me thinking about braving a choppy, textured pixie cut, too, as styled by Brown Sugar Artistic Director Christian Shannon – so chic, easy to care for, and youthful. Sugar Culture vouchers make a glossy gift, covering everything from hair styling to nails and tans at Sugar Coated, to lashes (€15).
Salons are getting busy so book your pre-event facials now – the best hands are in demand. I tried the new Codage Magistrale treatment at Dublin city centre spa Velvaere: a dynamic session of face-sculpting movements that are intense (at times almost painful), yet somehow still relaxing. A dead cert if you want to leave uplifted and glowing.
As for quick-fix, instant ways to get a glow, I swear by Trinny London’s Miracle Halo liquid highlighter (€38) – a few taps high on the cheeks works wonders. Sculpted by Aimee’s new Cream Cushion Foundation (€32) creates a lasting glow, too. Bobbi Brown Pro Artist Amy Conway advises getting colour-matched for foundation regularly (not just once) for a flawless finish.
NEED TO KNOW …
GOLDEN WONDERS
Golden beauty bottles are brightening up the winter months. We’re dazzled by Augustinus Bader’s The Vitamin C Serum, Eve Lom’s Restorative Skin Essence and Emma Hardie’s Vit C cleanser and serum.
The new Kilian Bath & Body range is elegantly golden, too.
LIMITED-EDITION
Rituals’ Intuitia collection is their most elegant collection yet. Fragrance, body care and treats for the home have a soft saffron and vanilla scent, and sophisticated packaging. The standout is a vintage-style room spray, €31.90, in stores and at rituals.com.
GOOD HAIR DAY
The new Louis Vuitton Extrait de Parfum, Fantasmagory, €510, takes vanilla to a new level – radiant, pure and precious. A collab between LV master perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud and legendary architect Frank Gehry, this is perfume as art.
FOREVER FAVOURITES
Enduring beauty brand Elemis was co-founded by inspirational Cork woman Noella Gabriel, in 1991. Its cult classics, including the peerless Pro-Collagen Marine Cream and Cleansing Balm, are still best in class. Book an Elemis treatment at Galgorm Collection hotels, including The Rabbit Hotel & Retreat.
