File under: the season’s most divisive shoe trend …
Fashion’s latest shoe craze? In addition to clogs and ladylike Mary Janes, there’s now the ballerina trainer: a nifty design that’s a hybrid between a sneaker and a ballet flat. Or, in other words, a very thin-soled trainer with ballerina tendencies.
Riding the wave right now is Louis Vuitton, the heritage fashion house has just debuted its Sneakerina shoe in a host of colours including a monogram canvas, mesh and even glitter.
Meanwhile, Danish brand Ganni has remixed the traditional ballet flat with a 1920s twist, with its lace-up shoes that are available in a host of colours, as well as patent finishes (there’s even a maximalist flash of diamanté).
At the affordable end of the scale, Adidas’ collaboration with Bad Bunny results in a ballerina trainer to one-up the coveted Samba.
