This year, Hobbs marks its 40th anniversary with a particularly smart collection, designed by women for women. Town meets country in immaculately cut coats, soft knits and the signature wool checks for which Hobbs is renowned. Classics are reimagined. Fluid, floaty dresses are offset by utility boots. Chunky knitwear cocoons, blouson sleeves deliver drama and on every piece there is a delicious detail. Prints, both delicate and bold, are punctuated by red, camel and navy, alongside autumn shades of chocolate, mulberry and winter rose.

H&M

H&M’s new collection brings a twist of athleisure and a utilitarian vibe to a classic countryside aesthetic. Earthy green tones (giving a natural freshness) and orange and black (a more urban palette) work together in practical but fabulous pieces, all made from sustainably sourced materials, reflecting H&M’s commitment to conscious fashion. A foldable recycled polyamide padded anorak transforms into a bag; a recycled polyester jumpsuit looks great with a turtle-neck sweater. A padded vest and oversized hooded pullover channel comfortable 1990s street style. Knee-high boots, Chelsea books with chunky soles and neutral-toned baseball caps look outdoorsy but urban, thanks to modern materials and finish. The collection has co-ordinating quilted and knitted dog coats, and a quilted dog bag, so you and your hound both look sensational. From September 23.

PINKO

Pinko’s two new collections have just landed at Harvey Nichols. The Miss Rose collection embodies a playful rebel at heart, independent, confident: her style is chic but still rock n roll. A vintage motif of small roses, a shirt with bowtie, a sweet chemisier dress, all have an edge when styled the Pinko way. The new Tricot Monogram Collection transforms the Pinko logo into a graphic pattern. Wear monogrammed pieces together for a bold statement, or layer with muted separates. At Harvey Nichols.

SELECTED FEMME

These modern classics will take you from school drop-off to dinner. Pair with tailored trousers and a fine-knit poloneck, or casual black joggers and sneakers.

GANNI

Ganni, the Danish label designed by husband-and-wife duo Ditte and Nicolaj Reffstrup, delivers a gorgeous collection. Dresses and blouses with ruching and draping, wrap the body in a feminine and fluid way. Knitwear feels old-school, romantic. Paisley print motif and overblown rose prints are inspired by pieces worn by Princess Diana, while the palette runs from super-classic shades of brown, navy and cream to fossil green, alongside soft lilac, pretty pinks and burnt yellow.
