Whether you are staying in on Halloween night or looking for a bingeable show for the weekend, here are the new series we can’t switch off …
Agatha All Along on Disney +
Set after the events of WandaVision, Agatha Harkness recruits some unlikely allies on her quest to regain her former powers and uncover the secrets of the Darkhold. Albeit a Marvel universe based series, Agatha All Along is about a witch, which makes perfect timing for the night that’s in it. Starring Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Aubrey Plaza, Patti LuPone, Sahseer Zamata and Ali Ahn, this magical series will suit these shorter evenings. Photograph via Disney+
Disclaimer on Apple TV+
This mini-series is not for the faint-hearted. Cate Blanchett plays Catherine Ravenscroft, a celebrated journalist whose work has been built on revealing the transgressions of long-respected institutions, until a very mysterious delivery threatens to expose her past. A psychological thriller written by Alfonso Cuarón and also starring Kevin Kline, Sacha Baron Cohen, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge and more. Photograph via Apple TV+.
Grotesquerie on Disney+
Audiences are loving Grotesquerie on Rotten Tomatoes so, if you like American Horror Story-style series or Lady In The Lake vibes, this one will fill that gap. The series follows Detective Lois Tryon, played by Niecy Nash, who feels that a series of heinous crimes in her small community are eerily personal … as if something or someone is taunting her. At home, she and her daughter fight their own inner demons. She’s caught in a sinister web, which causes more questions than answers. Perfect pre-Halloween fare! Also starring Courtney B. Vance, Lesley Manville, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, who played Lyle in The Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story, with a cameo by Travis Kelce!
Sweetpea on Sky Atlantic
Sweetpea is the ultimate gorey, graphic and gripping series to dive into this week. In this twisted ‘coming-of-rage’ thriller, Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Fallout) stars as a quiet wallflower who develops a taste for murder. Purness is masterful at acting deranged, while remaining likeable. Sweetpea‘s cast also includes Calam Lynch, Nicôle Lecky, Jeremy Swift and others – this dark comedy drama is the perfect combination to get us through the month. Photograph via Sky Atlantic.
Coming Soon: The Day of The Jackal on Sky Atlantic
Premiering on November 7, Eddie Redmayne stars as an elusive assassin who meets his match in a British intelligence officer tracking him down in a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. The famous tale based on Frederick Forsyth’s novel is one of the most iconic political thrillers to grace the screen. The BAFTA-winning and Oscar nominated film was originally released in 1973, while this modern re-telling sees Lashana Lynch as the MI6 agent working tirelessly to track the Jackal down before he can eliminate his next target. The series also stars more notables including Úrsula Corberó, Charles Dance, Lia Williams and Chuckwudi Iwiji. It looks like it will have us glued to our seats all over again!
