Conscious shopper Orla Sheridan shares the autumn winter pieces she can’t wait to buy and the pieces she’s carrying over from last season …
A new season, particularly autumn, feels like a turning of the page. The kids go back to school, the leaves change colour, the weather becomes cosy: it’s a moment that cries out for a sartorial change in gear. And while it can be tempting to overhaul your wardrobe with a glut of new pieces, we’re more conscious of consumption than ever. Is it unrealistic to think we won’t buy anything new? Probably. In the spirit of balance, we’ve created a glossy new series 2+2; where style influencers share the pieces they’re investing in for autumn winter and the forever stalwarts they’ll be carrying over from previous seasons. Up this week, fashion influencer and stylist Orla Sheridan (Instagram @orlasheridanstyle) shares her autumn wish-list, plus the wear-forever stalwarts she’ll be recycling.

What I’m keeping
“Theo & George is a sustainable Irish brand that is great. This cardigan is one of the hardest working pieces in my wardrobe. It works really well with whites in the summer. In the winter, I wear it with something black, whether it’s a silk midi-skirt or nice jeans and chunky boots.”
Sienna cashmere cardigan, €349; www.theoandgeorge.com.
“My Grenson boots are on their fourth winter and I love them. They go so well with jeans and oversized knits, as well as cream knitted dresses. Top tip: you can sometimes get the boots on sale on the Flannels website.”
Nanette leather boots in tan, €420; www.grenson.com.
what i’m buying
“Irish company The Landskein has the most amazing range of coats this season. I love the brand’s heritage tailoring which has a contemporary twist. I found it pretty impossible to choose just one. This coat may be one of the priciest pieces in my wardrobe but I know the costs per wear will justify the price tag over time. I call it my forever coat!”
Ceile double-breasted herringbone coat, €950; www.thelandskein.com.
“I love the Ribcage straight-leg jeans by Levi’s. The high waist is very flattering and I find them to be such a versatile style. I wear mine turned up at the bottom with runners during the spring. In winter, they are great with chunky boots and a more fitted knit. For a dressier look they are great with a pointy heel boot and an oversized blazer, too. Size down for a more fitted look.”
