What’s On My Beauty Shelf: Nuria and Gabriela of Rowse Beauty Share Their Essentials

Nuria Val and Gabriela Salord, founders of Rowse Beauty share their beauty essentials, best investment buys and favourite local heroes …

Traveller and photographer Nuria, and Gabriela who has a background in marketing in the cosmetic industry, met in 2018 in Paris and co-founded Rowse, working with pharmacist Lamia El Kadiri to create this plant-centric vegan, organic and cruelty-free skincare line. Below, the duo share their beauty essentials, best investment buys and favourite local heroes …

Key beauty staples/old favourites we’re never without …

Nuria: “My forever staple since its launch has been the Eye Contour Serum from ROWSE. It’s a super-refreshing eye contour roll with hyaluronic acid, caffeine and many more botanical actives that work wonders. Plus, I rarely leave my house with a handbag, and this is a small and practical detail that I can bring anywhere.”

Gabriela: “Way before beauty massages and face yoga was a thing, I made it a point every morning and night to really drain and depuff my face with a face roller and gua sha. Although my three-year-old daughter just broke mine and I have to find another one ASAP!”

Best beauty investments – what we spend a bit more on that’s worth it …

“We love to keep our nails neat, so this might be our biggest constant investment – once every ten days or so we get our nails done at our favourite salon, The Beautery (in Barcelona): they have all kinds of nail polishes and the formulas of the brands they use are quite good too.”

Most recent purchase …

Gabriela: “Recently I discovered the most incredible eyelash curler from She Uemura and, honestly, it makes the biggest difference! Since I barely wear any make-up, anything feels like a beauty upgrade.”

Favorite places to shop for beauty …

“Our all-time favourite place to spot new beauty brands with clean ingredients and formulas that we like is at Oh My Cream! in France and the UK. However, we just discovered last winter the cutest beauty store in Copenhagen, I Love Beauty, and we love everything we find there.”

We’re coveting …

Nuria: “This year around spring/summer we are announcing one of our most exciting products at ROWSE so far. I am dying to get my hands on our day serum that will enhance my skin’s elasticity with even more hydrating components.”

Gabriela: “I’m just counting the days for the ROWSE Solid Conditioner to finally launch. We both only use solid formats (shampoo and body soaps) and we have been working on crafting the best formula to make conditioners solid too!”

Local hero – our favourite Spanish beauty product …

“We are both very into creating a moment when it comes to self-care, so something that plays a great role here is “setting the mood”, and for this we just love lighting up a Copito candle from our dear friend and multidisciplinary artist, Clara Infante. She makes these beeswax candles and crafts them in her studio in Garraf, Barcelona, and she has become our local hero!”

The loveliest perfume bottle on our dressing tables …

Nuria: “We always have important conversations at the office around scents, we just love finding the most elegant mixtures. Gabriela’s guilty pleasure is L’Eau d’Issey perfume from Issey Miyake, it’s always on her dressing table. And my favourite is our own ROWSE Winter Perfume Oil, a minty formula with patchouli, cardamom and bergamot essential oils for a fresh pick-me-up that also helps to harmonise the nervous system – I take it with me anywhere I go.”

One foundation I swear by ….

Gabriela: “When it comes to make-up, we don’t usually even wear foundation, but if I do it’ll always be the Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint: my sister recommended it to me and I love it.

Nuria: “I’m more of an illuminator lover – I always carry with me the Baume Essentiel from Chanel.”
