Zalando’s spring summer campaign celebrates having fun choosing what to wear …
Award-winning actor, producer and businesswoman Sarah Jessica Parker, together with Italian singer-songwriter Mahmood, bring the Zalando SS25 campaign to life. Curated by stylist Stella Greenspan, they navigate the season’s endless outfit possibilities. Fashion becomes a playground for self-expression: from casual daytime catch-ups to vibrant city soirées or balmy date nights. Here, SJP talks styling and storytelling, and why there are no rules in fashion …

Your roles, from the screen to real life, often represent individuality and empowerment. What lessons have stayed with you from your career, and how do they inform your personal style?
I try not to give or take advice when it comes to style. Personal style should be whatever makes you feel good and most like yourself. What’s right for me will be different for someone else, and that’s a really important and beautiful thing. Dressing for yourself and feeling good in what you wear is empowering.
“The most important thing to me is being excited with the final look. I have fun finding new and interesting ways to wear and pair pieces.”
If you could choose one outfit from your past that encapsulates a defining moment in your life, what would it be?
I would probably have to choose some thing from the early Sex and the City archives, like the tutu worn in the opening credits. That show was a defining moment in my life and career, but also in the global fashion conversation.
How does your hands-on approach shape your personal and professional endeavours?
I won’t start a project if I can’t commit to being deeply involved in it. From producing to designing, I like to split the atom with my colleagues. It helps me be a more informed partner or leader, and it allows me to be part of every aspect of storytelling.
How do you think that the way we dress can influence how we move through the world, beyond just fashion?
Fashion allows people to communicate. It expresses identity, allows for experimentation, showcases individuality, reflects values and shapes perception. What you wear can evoke emotion and help exude confidence. There are no rights and wrongs in fashion.
Fashion has an enduring dialogue with pop culture. What makes it relevant for 2025?
There are infinite ways to wear or style a piece. You can wear a pair of Vans with a dress! This year, there are no fashion rules.
With such an extensive knowledge of fashion, do you gravitate back to a style or era that feels like home for you?
I love vintage references, but there are also tons of contemporary designers doing really incredible work. I generally know what colours, shapes and silhouettes look flattering, but I’m not afraid of trying new things.
Any fashion regrets?
Every sartorial choice I’ve ever made I stand behind, even if I’d perhaps make a different choice today. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but if an outfit made you happy you wore it correctly.
“I feel fortunate that my curiosity has led me to so many new and exciting opportunities, some that I never dreamed I’d get to do or try.”
You’ve been appointed as a judge for the 2025 Booker Prize, how do you anticipate this experience influencing your perspective on storytelling?
It’s a massive privilege to sit on the judging panel with people I admire and respect so deeply. I think the biggest takeaway so far is how different reading is when it’s not solely for pleasure. There’s a lot at stake. You have to consider your other judges, and a world of readers and their opinions. I think I’ll always come back to the things that excite me most in storytelling – being transported to a place that feels foreign to me, or discovering a voice that is unfamiliar in a city, country or continent that I’ve yet to visit.
Is there a particular passion project that you’ve yet to explore and are eager to pursue in the future?
I think my focus this year is going to be on the mountain of books I have to read in concert with my fellow judges, but who knows what’s next. There is much more to explore!
