What Books Would You Slip Into Your Dior Book Tote?

Wherever you choose to shop and browse, the luxury of an hour spent getting lost in these inspiring spaces, unearthing treasures and discovering some brilliant new reads, it must be one of our favourite pasttimes …

What would you slip into your Dior Book Tote? In this video for Dior, actress Rosamund Pike picks up the books that stand out to her, that stir her, the ones that allow her to travel the world while sitting still… As Pike wanders around Hatchards in Piccadilly, London she pops her finds into her SS23 Dior Book Tote by Maria Grazia Chiuri. From Jack Kerouac’s On The Road to Hanya Yanagihara’s searing A Little Life and Joan Didion’s series of essays, Slouching To Bethleham, she gathers a collection of the books she doesn’t want to leave behind.

As we follow her, our minds go straight to some of our favourite bookshops, like the tiny Gutter Bookshop in Dalkey Village or the family-run Bridge Street Books in Wicklow town and the wonderful Charlie Byrne’s in Galway with its towering shelves. We’ve already shared some of the best village bookshops around Ireland and Paula Flynn of Theshopkeepers.com put together a list of the most magical bookshops around the world, which you can read here. Wherever you choose to shop and browse, the luxury of an hour spent getting lost in these inspiring spaces, unearthing treasures and discovering some brilliant new reads, it must be one of our favourite pasttimes.

We would love to hear what some of your favourite bookshops are? Don’t forget we are still searching for THE GLOSS Best Shops Ireland 2023 with Theshopkeepers.com. You can nominate your favourite bookshop (or indeed any shop!) on thegloss.ie/bestshops now.
