A ruched off-the-shoulder top feels very of the moment. Team it with jeans, tailored trousers or a silk slip skirt and don’t forget to wear a shoulder-grazing pair of of earrings or eye-catching necklace.

You can never go wrong with a tailored black and white jacket, we firmly believe. Dial up the glamour by introducing some striking gold bangles or cuffs, as seen here, and add a high-shine patent leather micro-bag to carry your essentials.

As well as a great everyday coat, we love the idea of having a luxurious coat for eveningwear as part of our wardrobe rotation. Our advice? If you are going for one, make it winter white. The colour is perfect for wearing on special occasions and will instantly elevate any outfit.

If in doubt go for a statement sleeve. We love the idea of a simple cream jacket, that boasts a blousy shoulder, and some elegant fine jewellery.

Going out of your comfort zone in print? Choose an old-reliable sihouette such as a do-it-all shirt dress. It’ll work for both day and night depending on how you style it.

A move on from the classic tuxedo blazer? A boxy leopard print style which hinges upon decadence. Think brocade, velvet and rich wool materials. Pair with a great pair of jeans or co-ordinating trousers, as seen on style influencer Lucy Williams.

Offset a dramatic neckline with a pair of flat stomping boots. Not only will the casual footwear inject your look with a French edge and a level of effortless glamour, you’ll also avoid sore feet at the end of the evening.

Up the glamour level to high-octane with a fringed sequin skirt that draws attention as you move. (This one is from Marks & Spencer.)

Black needn’t be boring. When it comes to party dressing looks, we’re relishing the chance to go top-to-toe in all black. Add interest by accessorising with a cool hat and embracing textures such as lace and sequins.
