Tried And Tested: The Best Treatments, Scents And Spring Beauty

What we are trying, loving and coveting this spring …

TRIED & TESTED: GENOSYS BIONEEDLING

For the needle-averse, this innovative Korean treatment replaces micro-needles, with tiny mineral-rich spicules from natural sponges, applied to the face. The principle behind any needling treatment (mildly uncomfortable) is to trigger a healing response and subsequent skin regeneration, accelerated by the application of various masks in succession, including a tingly oxygen mask and an infrared one. A surge in collagen production follows, followed by increased hydration, plumpness, and a general glow. After initial heat and red-facedness, everything settled down nicely and I enjoyed the post-treatment products and the effects – fresh-looking smoooth skin which got glowier as the week went on. I would happily have this treatment again – the recommended interval is four weeks; it costs around €200 (45 mins). Find a salon at www.genosys.ie. SMcD

GREEN DAY At this time of year, we’re drawn to fresh cool green scents that have a gentle optimism. We’re intrigued by French brand Ex Nihilo, new to Brown Thomas: try Iris Porcelana, with violet leaf and a cool rush of iris; from €195. Creed’s Wild Vetiver is a woody floral with berry and rose (€220). Eight & Bob’s Le Trou 19 Du Phare, inspired by Biarritz, is an aromatic blend of frozen lemon, vetiver and cedarwood. From €108, at Harvey Nichols Dundrum. Jo Malone London is championing light, bright English Pear & Freesia Cologne this season. And Tom Ford’s new Taormina Orange eau de parfum, by master perfumer Anne Flipo, is juicy, fresh and set to fly … (€195).

GREEN TEA Innisfree isn’t an Irish brand, as you might expect from the name, but South Korean. The bestselling Green Tea range includes a gentle Green Tea Ceramide Milk, €20.70, at Space NK.

MAKE IT STICK Cushion and stick formats are making foundation more portable. Modern iterations are better than ever, and double as concealer. BareMinerals’ glowy Complexion Rescue Luminous Skin Tint (€38) is foolproof to use.

COLOUR POP As lip colour gets balmier, Gucci Westman’s new Hydrobalm Tinted Lipstick (€55) feels like the perfect pop of juicy, hydrating colour, in shades from from plum to peony. At Space NK.

COVETING Paris brand Bienaimé lip balm in its pink and red box.

WEARING Le Labo’s newest eau de parfum, cool, clean Violette 30. At Brown Thomas.

TRYING New Irish-founded, Italian-made hair brand Eyra, from €38.
