The just-launched Lucy x Vogue Gym Collection is here to help us embrace work-out gear again …
The pandemic did strange things to our relationship with gym gear. Some of us embraced it with full force (even if we weren’t necessarily working out), others traded technical fabrics for softer lounge pieces that were more forgiving, and less of a reminder of the gym memberships that were in desperate need of dusting off. It’s no secret that Vogue Williams always looks good when working out (we admire her resolute dedication to work-out jewellery, including the stacking pieces seen in these photos), so a new collaboration with loungewear and knitwear specialist Lucy Nagle piqued our interest.
The Lucy x Vogue Gym Collection is the duo’s second collaboration but it’s the first to focus on gym gear. The high quality of the fabric used in the collection was, apparently, a labour of love. According to Nagle, the duo spent over a year rigorously searching for the right fabrication. Something Williams, who has been working out in the pieces for some time, affirms, saying the leggings “have passed the squat test with flying colours”. Not only is the price-point settled in a nicely average range for contemporary gym gear, the pieces have a simplicity and sophistication that can only appeal to the masses: gym goers, lounge lovers and those who linger inbetween. Shop our pick of the pieces below.

We love a good co-ord set and the gym is no different. Possibly the hero pieces of the Lucy x Vogue collection are the Bra Top, €55, and the co-ordinating High-Waisted Leggings, €75, which come in three colours: black, navy and sea green. While the black are super-svelte, we’d wager the navy (which look quite like a mid-blue in the photos) would be a super-flattering shade for Irish skin tones. The bra tops are not measured in cup sizes, but they run up to a size 16.

While we’ve no shortage of tees or tank tops for working out in, there’s something about the Ruched Top in Black, €45, that feels novel. Perhaps it’s the fact that, as per the collection’s notes, you could wear it for after-dark with leather leggings; or just that it gives off an Olivia Newton-John kind of nostalgia. Either way, it’s a reasonable price-point for a multi-functional piece.

Made from 100 per cent cotton, the Super Oversized Sweatshirt in Sea Green, €75, is the kind of throw-on-and-go staple that works as gym gear, or with jeans for an off-duty look. This one fits true to size, although is artfully a little baggy and, as demonstrated by Williams, looks equally as good when paired with the co-ordinating high-waisted leggings from the collection.
