It comes editor-approved …
A.P.C. is a label that knows how to do a good collaboration. The Paris fashion brand, that’s noted for its sleek and affordable leather bags (find them stocked at Brown Thomas and Arnotts), teamed up with Katie Holmes last year on a covetable capsule collection. This year, it’s done it again, partnering with fashion editor Anastasia Barbieri (the former fashion director of Vogue Hommes) on an edit of hard-working buys that play with masculine-feminine aesthetics. Think: boyish tuxedo jackets, dandyish leather derbies and slim knitted jumpers, as well as separates that embody classic good taste (the perfect pair of high-waisted jeans, great collarless shirting and ultra-flattering tailored trousers). The collection is well timed as Annie Hall tailoring is firmly back in the fashion spotlight. (Read our take on the modern way to wear the trend here.)
The collection riffs on the gender-bending staples that take pride of place in French women’s wardrobes – those borrowed-from-the-boys pieces that lend a look that edge of simplicity and cool. Nodding to the codes of men’s tailoring, the collection eschews trends and reverts back to that one concept that never goes out of style: a man’s suit. Is it appealing? How could it not be.
