Brown Sugar are launching Wedding Sweet next month, bringing together a wealth of hair and beauty inspiration. It’s set to be the go-to spot for the very best bridal content, with expert tips for your special day.
Dearbhla Keenan, make-up manager for Sugar Culture, says for winter weddings many brides go for a pared-back look, with less strong definition. “The key look is classic and sophisticated, with a touch of Hollywood, but always looking like yourself. For complexion, I love YSL’s Bare Look Tint – ideal for mother of the bride – or my go-to, Nars Light-Reflecting Foundation (especially great for winter), or Sheer Glow for extra coverage.”
One key consideration for wedding make-up is how to make it last all day and still look fresh. Keenan’s advice is as follows: “My top tip for helping your make-up look last from day to evening is this: the best way to top up your make-up is by using a buffer foundation or slender brush. I always recommend that if you want to top up your make-up at the end of a long day into evening, don’t just layer powder on top, but instead avoid applying any extra product onto the skin – simply use your brush. Use your buffer brush (Zoeva and Sculpted by Aimee both do good ones) to help resurface your foundation, as often it slips from where you’ve originally applied it. Go over your forehead, nose and chin to buff it back into place. This will refresh your make-up for another four hours. Then you can add a finishing touch of blush or bronzer if needed and it will all look freshly applied.”
And to keep hair in place for the day? Brown Sugar stylists swear by L’Oreal Professional Techni Art Pli Thermo spray to prep hair, finished with Kerastase Elixir Serum to give the hair a gorgeous shine, as used also in THE GLOSS Gala. It’s a heat-activated spray that adds shape and fixes the hair.
