8 new beauty arrivals that we think should be on your beauty radar:
SCENT
1 Le Labo’s coming home. Having been a star feature at Dublin airport for some time, the perfume company is arriving in Brown Thomas Cork this Thursday (August 26) and then in the Dublin store from September 13 (it’s been available online since earlier in the year). With Grasse roots, and a New York background and aesthetic – imagine a fragrance lab that’s open to the public – the brand (now owned by Lauder) is entirely vegan and cruelty-free, and beautifully minimal in looks, if not price; from €158 for 50ml. Talking of the airport, if you are passing through look out for the exclusive mini sizes of seven Le Labo scents, including Santal 33 and Another 13 – handy and a little more affordable. www.brownthomas.com
2 Bon Parfumeur perfumes land at Brown Thomas this September, all the way from the Marais in Paris, and this is good news indeed – they’re cool, collected blends that are a bit different from the rest. The French collection includes 702, an aromatic fresh fern and lavender blend with incense and vanilla – it’s a delicious, classy perfume that lingers, and is especially suited to those who prefer more “boyish” scents. I’m looking forward to exploring the rest of the line, particularly 801, with sea spray, cedar and grapefruit, and the new 004 with gin, mandarin and musk. In fact, looking through the collection is like reading a particularly enticing menu – you just want to order everything. €82.
3 Recently arrived, the new Hermès Twilly Eau Ginger fragrance is a bright spark of a scent created by Christine Nagel, a master of contemporary scents with a twist. So here, peony is paired with spicy ginger and woody cedar (the smell of pencil shavings, so perfect for a new term). It has a perky sweetness that’s perfect for these summer’s end sunny days. €130 at Arnotts.
MAKE-UP
4 Bobbi Brown beauty has just arrived at Boots.ie and via Click & Collect at over 2,300 Boots stores, which is handy. Latest launches include the Real Nudes collection, featuring three new limited-edition Face & Cheek Palettes, each containing two bronzing powders and a blush so good for on the go (€38).
5 While you’re there, check out the new vegan arrivals, Bite Beauty and Skin Proud, as well as Estee Lauder Pure Colour Whipped Matte Liquid Lip colours (exclusive to Boots from August 25), and of course No7 serums, such as Protect & Perfect Intense and Lift & Luminate, clinically tested give skin a boost with proven formulas under €40. www.Boots.ie
HAIRCARE
6 Sisley’s Hair Rituel range is seriously fancy, and they are now launching a glamorous take on anti-dandruff products, with a scalp-soothing shampoo and treatment launching this autumn. Look out too for two new hairbrushes to give your blow-dry a touch of Sisley glamour (from €60). I’m also really excited that the Christophe Robin range is arriving here – their scalp salt scrub is the business. And the packaging has had a complete update – with an emphasis on reducing plastic – for autumn. Both at Brown Thomas from September.
7 Aveeno’s Scalp Soothing haircare collection also focusses on the scalp – but without neglecting the fact that we want shiny, beautiful-looking hair too. The Daily Moisture+ Oat Milk shampoo and conditioner, for example, is gentle enough for the most dry and sensitive of scalps. A good value step towards healthy hair: during a reent trial, several of our The GLOSSiest beauty panellists found that they compared very well with their usual more expensive products: for example, Catherine noted: “These products compared really well with any others I have used. Quite often my scalp reacts to any change of shampoo but it really likes these Aveeno formulas. Both shampoo and conditioner felt rich and luxurious.” €9.99 at pharmacies nationwide; www.aveeno.ie
