The Best Of What’s New In Irish Fashion

See the pieces we’re coveting from homegrown fashion labels …

Create – a pop-up that promotes Irish fashion design – is back for another year at Brown Thomas on Grafton Street in Dublin until the end of August. This year, the initiative spotlights the work of four exceptional Irish fashion brands; Caroline Duffy, Emerald & Wax, Kindred of Ireland and Urban Aran. Noteworthy additions include Dundalk-based Duffy’s luxurious full skirts featuring hand-painted peonies on deadstock fabric, inspired by her grandparents’ garden, which would make for excellent racewear attire. Visit them in store now.

Speaking of summer occasions, the best Irish fashion brands know that a dress needs to be a cut above the rest. Think: sweeping hemlines, luxurious fabrics and striking pale shades. See: Violet Dent who made quite an impact by wearing Kindred of Ireland’s Camille Irish linen bridal gown to Ascot. In a similar vein, the Lottie dress by Charlotte & Tess, with its frilled neckline and sleeves, is a more relaxed take on the look, made from ecru denim.

We can thank Skims for how much shapewear has penetrated our wardrobes. And now Ireland-based brand Shapemoda is taking the idea to a whole new level by unveiling a range of tailoring with sculpting abilities. Our pick is the Shape black blazer which, with its cinched waist, is specifically designed to hug and flatter an hourglass body type.
