The Best Beauty Looks At The Oscars

While we’re fans of Timothee Chalamet’s pale yellow suit, beauty-wise the outlook is Old World glamour …

Red carpet looks, from Demi Moore and Zoe Saldaña to Felicity Jones and Lily-Rose Depp, went for a fresh-faced, natural-looking make-up look paired with glam hair, including big blowdries, waves and towering up-dos or slicked partings.

Moore wore Charlotte Tilbury Kissing Lipstick in Candy Chic, and her stylist is said to use the Dyson Corrale straightener to achieve her trademark sleek waves.

Emma Stone’s pixi cut was striking, paired with healthy glowing skin – she looked like a heroine from an F Scott Fitzgerald novel, fresh from the Riviera. We also loved Halle Berry’s sleek side-parted bob.

Beauty-wise, the biggest focus was on pairing perfect make-up and hair with traditional designer outfits – very “promcore” – which is, of course, trending. Winner Mikey Madison for Anora, for example, went Old Hollywood in a pretty Dior haute couture dress in pink satin with a black velvet bustier, recreated from an original design by Christian Dior himself. Madison’s immaculate black eyeliner and soft pink lip colour complemented the dress perfectly. Cat-eye and winged liner is not going anywhere this awards season!

We also loved Lupita Nyong’o’s make-up look with pearlescent highlights, perfectly chiming with her exquisite couture Chanel gown that gleamed with pearl details.

Margaret Qualley’s richer, more cherry-toned lip colour stood out; the perfect accompaniment to her gorgeous Breakfast at Tiffany’sesque glamour in backless black Chanel.

Overall, it was a night of traditional looks with nothing to rock the boat – a bit of escapism, retreating to simpler times when things felt more stable and certain, perhaps?

One question remains … how long before Cynthia Erivo launches her own nail line?
