Our pick of the summer sales …
Buying beauty in the sales? Proceed with caution. It’s all too easy to get overexcited and come home with a load of stuff you don’t really need, simply because it’s a few per cent off. Though it can be a good idea to nab a few presents to have on hand for when you’re stuck for a gift. Here are five beauty buys that are worth it, in our opinion, with decent reductions on products we love at full price.
THE LIP BALM
We love a softly tinted lip balm, and long to wear the Augustinus Bader x Sofia Coppola one. Now, here it is for €33.60 (20 per cent off) – still not cheap, but this is the best price you’ll find it for (even lower than at duty free). You’ll wear this moisturising, gently flattering balm all summer, and beyond. Speaking of duty free, there’s currently a Bader skincare discovery set available there for €140 – ideal if you’ve always wanted to try out The Rich Cream, a genuinely excellent moisturiser created by a skin genius.
THE BRILLIANT IRISH MOISTURISER
Here’s a good reason to hotfoot it to Kilkenny Design (also online): Nunaïa Beauty‘s Earth Blossom Moisturising Cream is down to €56 (usually €70). This is, in my opinion, one of the best Irish skincare products you can buy. They’ve carried out independent third-party studies which confirm that this antioxidant cream delivers proven skin benefits over 28 days, with “measurable improvements in wrinkles, fine lines, enlarged pores, dryness and dullness”. When you buy this, you also get a free gift of their mini Nourishing Radiance Serum, so it’s a win-win.
THE TRAVEL SET
A travel kit is a useful investment. Especially when it’s reduced from €275 to €125. THE SUMMER BODY CREAM
The Sol de Janeiro line has certainly had its day in the sun. The strongly scented creams and sprays continue to draw many devotees, and it’s a good gift for young beauty-lovers. This 75ml pot of Bum Bum Cream is reduced to €12 at Kilkenny Design – everywhere else it’s still €24 – including the pink Bom Dia version, which has a more floral scent, plus vitamin C to target dark spots.
