Style CV: Anthony Remedy

On shopping, wishlists, investment pieces, style icons, scents, gadgets and unwinding with books or streaming …

Who? Anthony Remedy, creative consultant and entertainment specialist, and the creator of the weekly Instagram cultural recommendation list No Filler (@no__filler).

Your style? Classic mixed with some statement pieces.

Shopping? I thoroughly research purchases until I’m sure I want the piece and that it’s at the best price. I buy from Mytheresa, Ssense, eBay, Grailed and Vestiaire as well as Brown Thomas (the menswear team is always reliable, especially Carl Shaaban and Jeff Thompson).

Investment pieces? I mostly buy investment pieces, rarely fast fashion. Among my favourites is a Lacoste runway AW19 polo designed by Louise Trotter (now Bottega Veneta creative director). I searched high and low for it, and eventually found it on Vestiaire Collective. A Balenciaga suit (SS15) which I wear a lot, it reminds me of Tom Cruise’s suit in Collateral. Two of my favourite cultural moments were in 2017: Twin Peaks: The Return and Raf Simons’ collection for Calvin Klein. During Simons’ brief tenure at Calvin Klein, aided by Matthieu Blazy and Pieter Mulier, the house adopted a European artistic sensibility. I loved it all and have been collecting pieces ever since. Recently, I finally found a quilt-lined green parka with a shearling hood from the AW17 collection – only 200 were made.

Grey wool alpaca logo sweater, €1,900; www.dior.com.

Wish list? The grey Dior sweater from Jonathan Anderson’s first men’s collection.

Style icon? I don’t have one. LA-based stylists Wendi Ferreira and Nicole DeJulio (@wendiandnicole) are outstanding, having dressed the likes of Jacob Elordi and Miles Teller, but their greatest achievement is turning Seth Rogen into one of the best-dressed men in Hollywood.

Who cuts your hair? The Regent Barber in Temple Bar, Dublin, since I was 14. Occasionally, hair stylist David Cashman.

Colonia Intensa eau de cologne, Acqua di Parma, €118, at Brown Thomas.

Favourite apps? The Substack app is great; you can listen to posts as well as read them. New York magazine is great, as are The New Yorker and The New York Times apps. I read film reviews by Richard Brody, Justin Chang and (my favourite) Manohla Dargis. I use The Irish Times app for Corinna Hardgrave’s restaurant reviews and Donald Clarke’s film reviews. (I also read restaurant reviews by Conor Stevens, Gillian Nelis and Katy McGuinness.) I love browsing hotels in the Bonvoy app.

Favourite indulgence? I often go see a great movie twice. Sometimes three times if exceptional.

No Filler podcast, at Apple and Spotify.

Next up? I would love to go to Tokyo, it’s otherworldly. Antwerp too. I’ll go to Vienna to see my best pal and the Helmut Lang exhibition. I’ve just started the No Filler podcast with my friend Siobhan O’Donovan – a personal milestone. I’m working on No Filler events; there is space for a very specialised, culturally significant series of talks and shows. @anthonyremedy
