See Inside A Renovated Georgian Home In Dublin

This Georgian property in Dublin 6 was updated to meet the needs of a young family while retaining many of its original period features. Most of the structural work was carried out in the living, dining, kitchen and utility rooms at basement level. The kitchen design was simplified to improve functionality and flow; projecting shelves were removed and a new island was installed. A laundry room was designed to be used also as a playroom. In the rest of the house, three bathrooms were retiled and refitted.

Understated, timeless design punctuated by interesting artworks and antiques is the hallmark of Maria Fenlon’s projects as demonstrated in the main living areas where she designed bespoke furniture which was mixed with antique accessories. Working with lighting designer Rocky Wall of Wink, she devised a new lighting scheme for the whole house. “We selected light fittings that linked with the traditional style of the house and brought a modern aesthetic to the space,” explains Fenlon.

The living room features pendant lights from Martin Fennelly Antiques, Francis Street, Dublin 8, with coffee table and chair from PH Collection, Belgium. The sofa was designed by Maria Fenlon.

The dining chairs are upholstered in Gaston Y Daniela fabric; the table is from PH Collection, Belgium.

The living and dining room are painted in Colourtrend’s Sheepskin shade.

Existing kitchen units were repainted in Colourtrend’s Milk Teeth, new handles added. The island, designed by Maria Fenlon, was created by Langrell Kitchens.
