Supporting Irish creatives is more important than ever this year which is why DFS is celebrating the works of JANDO in a feel-good collaboration offering inspiration on how to refresh our living spaces …
As we hunker down at home, it’s not unusual to start noticing the elements of our interiors that could do with a change or a refresh. Indeed, it’s a fact that many are using their “holiday funds” to invest in new furniture and accessories to freshen up living spaces before winter sets in. But that needn’t mean our homes lack a holiday vibe. In a new collaboration with the Irish design community, DFS has been working with JANDO, the Dublin-based award-winning printmaking studio founded by husband and wife team Julie and Owen Mc Loughlin. JANDO is known for its bright artwork incorporating geometric patterns, angular shapes and metropolitan glamour.
JANDO’s “Concrete Moon” collection is aimed at reawakening our relationship with so-called “architectural monstrosities” that feature in our landscape. Take for instance, Liberty Hall – which is without doubt Julie and Owen’s favourite building in Dublin. They believe that the top of the 200ft tall building would make an ideal public observation deck to take in the views and watch the city from above. “Space House” or One Kemble Street and CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) House is another of the Concrete Moon series. This collection is printed on recycled archival paper using archival inks and are guaranteed to retain their vivid colours and striking aesthetic for a long time to come.
Using these JANDO prints as inspiration, Irish stylist Alannah Monks worked with JANDO and DFS to help create a living room look inspired by the idea of exciting city breaks in European cities. Pictured here is the DFS Enchanted four-seater sofa in Blush velvet €1,029, paired here with the DFS So Simple Tom armchair in Simply Wool Look in Vintage Mustard wool look, €619.
Bright, beautiful and bringing the wow factor to any setting, the Enchanted range from DFS has a luxe, retro feel and is available in a choice of 19 sumptuous shades of velvet. In addition to corner sofas, there is also a choice of two-, three- or four-seater sofas, an accent chair and a bench stool. To channel the retro vibe, pair the Enchanted range with abstract patterns and printed cushions. Geometric forms in artwork and accessories offer the perfect finishing touch for a look that oozes chic city style. For further ideas check out @DFS and #DFStaycationinspiration on Instagram.
