IN PARTNERSHIP WITH PRIMARK
The Edit has landed, with modern tailoring, pretty crochet pieces and Italian-inspired prints. Find timeless classics for less at Penneys this spring – here’s what we’re buying now …
It’s at this time of year that our minds start drifting towards warm weather wardrobes. Ready to shed our heavy winter layers, we’re daydreaming about long sunny days and warmer nights. Whether you’re planning a late spring city break or thinking ahead to a summer spent at home, there’s something to suit all styles in the latest collection from Penneys.
How to update your wardrobe for the new season without a complete overhaul? All it takes is a few new polished pieces – we know by now that the best wardrobes contain the perfect balance of a high/low edit. The idea to keep in mind while preparing for a new season is to invest in a small number of key elevated basics that feel fresh for now and will help you to create modern silhouettes when paired with your existing wardrobe.

Black swing dress, €28.
Launched first in 2021, The Primark Edit is a range of elevated basics which will slot into and enhance your existing wardrobe. With a focus on signature classics and timeless pieces, the collection is designed to form a capsule wardrobe of everyday pieces that you’ll re-style and wear on repeat. This season also sees the introduction of statement pieces that will stand out this summer – from a perfectly pretty crochet dress to a black and white printed satin midi.
With classic pieces like relaxed linen trousers, heavy cotton T-shirts, breezy trapeze dresses and simple mix-and-match tailoring, these are the pieces you’ll reach for time and time again. The idea behind The Edit is longevity, with a focus on more premium fabrication and simple design. As the brand aims to improve its sustainability credentials (as it stands, 45 per cent of Primark clothing is made from recycled or more sustainably sourced materials, and the brand is committed to making that 100 per cent of its clothing by 2030), The Edit can be seen as another step in the right direction.
So what should you shop from The Edit this season? Here are some of the standout pieces:

ITALIAN DREAM
This season, we love the Italian-designed print pieces, as seen on this satin co-ord. We can see ourselves wearing this from beach to bar on a trip along the Amalfi Coast this summer. This print also comes in a dress version that’s made for summer occasions. Black and white printed shirt, €20, and matching trousers, €22.

TAILORED ESSENTIALS
With a key focus on tailoring, The Edit includes a tailored linen waistcoat paired with linen Bermuda shorts in a seriously chic shade of khaki. This is a trend we’ve seen all over the runways at Copenhagen Fashion Week – a cool girl take on traditional tailoring. Be brave and try Bermudas for summer. Wear them with ballet flats or this season’s retro-style trainers for day, and with slingback heels for a more polished evening look. The Edit also offers a khaki oversized blazer and matching cropped loose-fit trousers. Khaki linen waistcoat, €20, and matching linen shorts, €20.

LAID-BACK LUXE
For laid-back daytime looks we love the 100 per cent linen shirts and matching trousers. These are the items that will more than earn their cost-per-wear – you’ll reach for these pieces time and time again, wearing them together or as separates. The ecru shade is perfect for warmer weather while the black is a failsafe option that can be dressed up or down. Ecru linen shirt, €x, and matching trousers, €x.

SUMMER SHOWSTOPPER
And for long hot summer days – we may not be there yet, but we can dream – it has to be the rainbow coloured crochet midi dress, made from 100 per cent cotton that comes with a matching sweater to wrap around your shoulders when the sun goes down. Yes, that settles it, we’re certainly ready for warm weather dressing… Multi-coloured crochet dress, €28.
