From lazy Susans to shelf inserts, the right foundation to organise your kitchen is essential …
The New Year declutter can be daunting, so, instead of trying to attack the whole kitchen, set a timer for half an hour and see how much you achieve. Clearing the clutter and allocating a space for everything could literally change your life.
According to Sarah Reynolds, founder of the Organised Chaos company, research supports what many of us intuitively know: clutter affects stress levels. “The Choosi Clutter Report finds that 37 per cent of respondents said clutter caused arguments, while 60 per cent said it caused ‘some or considerable stress’. Conversely, 80 per cent of respondents experienced increased mental clarity in clutter-free spaces, and 49 per cent felt refreshed after decluttering.”
These studies highlight a simple truth: our surroundings directly affect our physiology and mood, says Sarah, adding that streamlining and organising are not the same thing. Organising can only start when you have taken the time to declutter, making gaps for ordered storage.
