No New Year’s Eve Plans? It’s Not Too Late….

Even with curfews New Year’s Eve can still be celebrated in style – if you know where to go …

It may feel like the fun has all come to an abrupt halt, but celebrating New Year’s Eve is still very much a possibility this year. With some creative thinking and flexibility with our plans, toasting the arrival of 2022 is still feasible, although we may have to slightly adjust our expectations… Here are some ideas on how to do as much.

The Eleven (formerly The Twelve Hotel), Barna, Galway

On the last day of 2021, The Twelve Hotel and Restaurant will become The Eleven for one day only. To coincide with the midnight restriction for hotel guests in Ireland, The Twelve Hotel will align itself with Central Europe Time and ring in the New Year at the same time as Paris, Berlin and Rome. All guests arriving in The Twelve on this day will be asked to put their watches one hour forward. New Year’s Eve will be celebrated with the usual Twelve panache at 12am CET. There are a limited number of rooms available as we can’t think of a better way to start 2022. www.thetwelvehotel.ie

Allta Box

Fans of Allta Winter House will be happy to hear that the team behind Allta will be launching a limited edition alltabox for delivery on New Year’s Eve and enjoyed over the holiday. For more details, see Allta social pages for updates and release dates. Don’t delay, if the last run of alltaboxes is anything to go by, these will be snapped up. www.instagram.com/alltawinterhouse/

A Gatsby New Year at Dunbrody House

As F. Scott Fitzgerald famously said, “Too much of anything is bad, but too much champagne is just right” and the team at Dunbrody House are embracing this attitude as we bid adieu to 2021, with their Gatsby themed New Year’s Eve soirée. Guests are invited to be transported to an era of a modern renaissance where style, opulence, and grace were the only way to swing. The stay kicks off with a festive afternoon tea upon arrival, followed by traditional Prohibition cocktails and canapes on the 31st followed up with a vintage gala dinner with live music throughout. There is availability from €475 per person [at time of writing, subject to change]. www.dunbrodyhouse.com

Fire and Sole restaurants

In Dublin city centre, both Fire and Sole restaurants have a limited number of tables available for early New Year’s Eve dining. The early bird menu on January 31st is priced at €55 per person in Fire. The lunch menu at Sole is priced at €45 and €65 for dinner – expect more oysters and champagne than you can shake a stick at. www.sole.ie / www.firesteakhouse.ie
