Rebecca Gleeson Patel, Head of Public Relations, Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour, London and Doctor Rakesh Patel tied the knot against the beautiful backdrop of a Georgian house in Sussex …
“Planning for my wedding day began with a clear vision that emerged as soon as I chose my wedding dress. The ornate and embellished design of the gown set the tone for the rest of the day. I realised that a venue with character was essential to complement the elegance of my dress without it feeling excessive.
Our venue was a Georgian house in Sussex, with wisteria climbing the red brick walls. I envisaged a dreamy garden party and the violinist playing on the lawn helped to create the perfect mood for an early May wedding. The atmosphere was enriched by the warmth of both my Irish heritage and my husband Rakesh’s Indian roots, blending two cultures renowned for their kindness and hospitality. Having everyone we loved gathered together created an incomparable energy.
As an interior designer, I aimed for a cohesive colour palette to unite all the details.

While the primary scheme was white, I added pale blush pink for the ceremony and tablescapes, and introduced lilac and lavender accents during the reception. These colours were reflected in thoughtful touches, from the flower girls’ dresses to my sister Isabel’s bouquet.
One of the best pieces of advice I received was to include confetti after the ceremony. It marked the joyful transition into the reception and resulted in some of my favourite photos. The simple act brought a celebratory touch that I’m glad we didn’t overlook.”

Dramatic lengths of white fabric were used to decorate the wedding venue.
