NATASHA SHERLING TAKES A PEEK INSIDE FLORIST PATSIE WRAFTER’S JEWELLERY BOX

Patsie Wrafter is a florist, best known for co-founding the Informal Florist before launching her own company, Patsie & Co., specialising in timeless, imaginative style using the most beautiful blooms. Here, a selection of her favourite jewels.

“Due to the nature of my work, I often have to leave the good stuff behind. I don’t want to run the risk of damaging things in amongst the flowers and foliage! But a select few of my favourite pieces of jewellery still get worn nearly every day. My engagement ring tops the list; it’s an 18th century gold & silver ring set with a rose cut diamond – a really old cut, and one of the original ways of fashioning a diamond. My fiancé picked this out in a vintage jewellery shop in St Germain de Près a couple of days after he proposed in Paris. It was a very special time and I love the thought of its storied French roots – it dates from when one of my favourite French botanical painters Pierre Joseph Redouté was at his peak.

My gold signet ring has an oval black onyx stone and engraving detail on the shoulders – my Dad left this as a present on the dash of my car years ago and I’ve worn it ever since. I’m really interested in gemstone meanings and healing stone properties; onyx is a protection stone, which is always comforting when I have it on.

I have a gold nameplate identity “Patsie” necklace, which has a counterpart belonging to my dear friend Lou. Hers spells “LouLou” and we’ve been wearing them for ten years or so now. I usually where it on its own most days or stacked with other longer gold chains/pendants.

Gold hoops in different sizes are my every day staples – depending on the day and outfit, but Loulerie, & Other Stories and Missoma always have a great selection.

For special occasions, I wear my vintage gold Omega Seamaster watch from the 1970s. It was another amazing find by my other half – he has a 1960’s version in silver, which I also love!
