Minima marked its 30th anniversary with an evening celebrating design heritage, contemporary creativity and the enduring appeal of Eileen Gray’s most iconic pieces …
Design Week Dublin, in partnership with Range Rover, took a lively turn as guests gathered at Minima to celebrate founder Helen Kilmartin’s milestone 30th year in business. With some 200 guests joining the occasion, there was standing room only within a short space of time as design professionals and enthusiasts caught up.
The evening also marked the launch of a selection of key Eileen Gray furniture pieces, including one of the reissued limited-edition Bibendum chairs produced to commemorate the centenary of the celebrated Irish designer’s birth. The work provided a particularly fitting focal point, her furniture continuing to demonstrate the timeless quality of thoughtful, innovative design.
Among those in attendance were architects Amanda Bone, Emma O’Neill and John Kelly, alongside interior designers Róisín Lafferty and Eoin Lyons, and textile artist Aiveen Daly, reflecting the breadth of creative talent that continues to shape Dublin’s design landscape. With Minima long established as a destination for considered contemporary design, the anniversary provided an opportunity to celebrate not only the business’s longevity but its contribution to Ireland’s design community.
Guests were treated to champagne and wine, while gin cocktails kept the celebrations flowing. Finger food from Do Canapés was served throughout the evening, adding to the relaxed, sociable atmosphere.
For Helen, the anniversary was a significant milestone – three decades of championing design and building a business that has become a familiar presence within Ireland’s interiors community. Bringing together so many of the people who have helped shape and support that community made the occasion a fitting celebration of Minima’s past, present and future.
With more DWD events scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, many contributors had to reluctantly call it a night.
