Award-winning Irish interior architect and founder and creative director of Ashen & Cloud, Susan McGowan helped Design Week Dublin, in partnership with Range Rover, to continue at pace with an engaging talk detailing her design expertise.
After a brilliant introduction by broadcaster Ciara Doherty, moderator (and architect) Amanda Bone took the reigns, expertly drawing Susan into an open and enlightening conversation about her work, impressive CV and ambitious plans to renovate a vacant building in Athlone which will house Ashen & Cloud’s new studio right in the heartland of midlands.

After refining her design expertise at top global architectural firms, Susan returned to Ireland, with plans to start a family. After some time out, she feared she’d “closed the door on design” which saddened her. But as someone who believes you should “use your talents in life” she slowly started to regain her confidence and ultimately bridge a vital gap in thought-driven residential design.
Renowned for her analytical yet deeply creative style, Susan designs with a “sense of belonging to place” in mind and clearly shares the ethos of DWD that good design should be accessible to everyone, not reserved for the wealthy, but something that can enrich everyday life.
