The Drawstring Short
For fashion and celebrity stylist Corina Gaffey, who dresses the likes of Vogue Williams and singer Loah, holiday dressing is all about one piece: a pair of drawstring shorts. “They’re so easy to roll up in a suitcase,” Gaffey says. “Go for a pair that have a co-ordinating shirt for extra mileage. You can style them as a set or wear them as separates.” Gaffey’s favourite way to wear shorts is with a chic swimsuit underneath – opt for a square-neck swimsuit for an on-trend look.

The flounce maxi-dress
Editorial fashion stylist Sinéad Keenan rates an elevated maxi-dress as a stylish holiday piece that’s low on effort. “The right maxi-dress can move from beachwear to evening wear as either an elevated swimwear cover-up, or a gorgeous flowing gown worn with evening flats for those balmy nights,” Keenan says. “On my wish-list is a one hundred percent silk maxi-dress by Kalita (find them at Havana) in Tuscan orange, that’s part of the brand’s zero waste range,” Keenan says. On the more affordable side of things, H&M is a go-to for beach-perfect maxi-dresses in vibrant shades.

The Oversized Shirt

Fashion stylist and curator of online boutique StyledBy.ie Sarah Rickard leans towards a classic staple for holiday dressing: shirting. “For me, the must-have holiday piece for spring summer 2022 is the oversized shirt,” Rickard says, who believes the XL shape has mass appeal. “This is something everyone, no matter what shape or size, should have in their summer wardrobe. This wardrobe warrior can be worn on its own, belted, layered over a figure hugging dress, or paired with shorts and trousers.” Get Rickard’s green shirt here.
