There’s something about leather that we can’t quit. And, as leather alternatives rise, so does our interest in the fashion classic. Look to the streets and you’ll see some modern day heroes in action: a vegan leather shacket, a wipe-clean, high-shine suit or a pair of stomping boots that will last this season and beyond. For autumn winter, designers went one step further, showcasing top-to-toe leather looks at Bottega Veneta, 16 Arlington and Maryam Nassir Zadeh, to name a few.
With each season, we’ve seen the popularity of leather as outerwear skyrocket: from the revival of the 1990s leather blazer to full-length leather coats in sleek shades of petrol blue and classic tan. We can see why: it’s chic, it’s polished and – even though it’s a classic – there’s a sense that it very much nods to now. If all of this seems a little much, stick to safer (but still highly fashionable) territory: a trusty pair of leather loafers, a go-anywhere leather biker and your favourite leather cross-body all pay homage to the trend.
