For fashionistas, the cinematic highlight of 2021 must be the release of House of Gucci and for Irish observers, the couture coup of the year is the starring role played by the gloves of Irish designer, Paula Rowan. That the film’s costume director Janty Yates chose Rowan’s gloves reflects the regard in which her work is held throughout the fashion world. Rowan enjoys editorials in magazines from Dazed to Vogue, and celebrity affirmation for her “couture for the hands.” Madonna, Helen Mirren, Paloma Faith, Naomie Harris and Julianne Moore are some of the A-list who have been spotted wearing Rowan’s gloves, which are designed in Ireland and made in Italy.

In one scene from the forthcoming film, which has already garnered two million views of the trailer alone, Lady Gaga wears a mink coat over an authentic Gucci dress from the house archive. Worn with this ensemble are the Aida gloves (€165), which are used in several colours throughout the film. The Aida glove is a classic shape with a triple dart detail on the front and lined in silk.

Elsewhere, Rowan’s Monserrat twelve button gloves (€380) are also worn by Lady Gaga in a fashion show scene. The Monserrat is one of Rowan’s most iconic designs and were specially made in gold for the film. Do look out for Rowan’s gloves when the film is released on November 26.
