Make a small change but a big statement to your look with one of these new lip colours …
Have we hit peak lipstick? From featherweight gloss to mattes as smooth as suede, formulas are so fantastic now that it’s hard to imagine they can get any better. And with lip colour being one of the the easiest ways to make a small change for the new season, here are seven of the best we’ve seen so far …

Make-up artist Violette comes up with some of the best formulas in every category – and she’s especially great at lips. Her new Plume Lip liquid lipsticks are exquisite, with strong but light pigment and a softly blurred finish. Comfortable to wear, they come in offbeat autumnal shades from smoky pink to warm brown-red. Dab on for a beautifully carefree effect, or build up to a more dramatic finish.

The limited-edition autumn collection from Hermès Beauty features three lipsticks in beguiling rose shades. We love dazzling Rose Primaire, a jewel-coloured magenta matte, €75.

The brand new La Beauté Louis Vuitton collection features many gems, and the lip colours are super-luxurious, with show-stopping shades designed by Dame Pat McGrath. The LV Rouge lipsticks (in 55 shades, in matte and satin) are a pinnacle of lip colour, with an embossed logo and a specially designed fragrance – plus they’re refillable. €140, refills €80.

Kate Moss wore Tom Ford Lip Colour in Casablanca for a recent Tom Ford dinner in Venice. €48.40 at Dublin & Cork Duty Free.

Many of these are aspirational, top-end lip colours. For a more accessible option, we love Inglot’s Glazed Lips Liquid Lipsticks SPF50+, in delicious shades from Pink Meringue to Berry Crumble (pictured is Glazed Caramel), €21. Add more definition with the Velvet Define Lip Pencil, €16.

Poco Beauty has just launched the soft, moisturising Water Glow Lip Tint, €22, together with the Soft Blur Lip Contour Stick, €21, to line the lips.

Chanel No1 de Chanel Lip and Cheek Balm, €50, isn’t new, but it’s a brilliant multitasker – we return to it all year round. In shades from rose pink to bright red at Brown Thomas.

Head to the Hourglass counter at Arnotts and see all the great things this brand is coming up with for autumn. For lips, the Phantom Volumising Glossy Balm (€41, or duo for €65), available in a host of autumnal shades, is quick and easy to zip on – a balm for all seasons.
