A week-long festival where fashion takes the reins …
Celebrated as one of the longest established race meetings in Ireland, the Listowel Harvest Festival in Co Kerry runs over seven days from September 21-27: a fusion of top class flat and jump racing, fashion and entertainment. Like all major Irish racing festivals, it draws huge crowds nationwide with an action-packed programme both on and off the course. The feature race was the William Hill Handicap Hurdle of €100,000, while the festival also hosts four dedicated fashion events over the week with dedicated days for families, gentlemen, ladies and sustainable style. For the Ladies Day competition on September 26, the audience descended on the racecourse with a sea of feathers and fascinators on display.

The McElligotts Kia Best Dressed Lady competition, judged by broadcaster Louise Duffy with designer Shauna Courtney awarded Joann Murphy the top prize, winning a trip for two to New York, staying in the iconic Fitzpatrick Hotel on Manhattan Island. She turned heads in a sculpted dove headpiece by milliner Carol Kennelly and a fitted Celia B two-piece suit, with a bag from Dune.

Jordana Lambadanos from Co Limerick won €1,000 for the Most Creative Headpiece award, which was nature inspired by Marc Millinery. Mairead Walsh won €500 for the Most Contemporary Outfit, a pre-loved Alessandra Rich midi dress she bought in Goose Boutique in Tralee at a fraction of the cost. She originally saw it on Kate Middleton and fell in love with it. Mairead had a particularly busy week after getting married last weekend!
