Almost 400 people attended an elegant lunch in aid of Spinal Injuries Ireland at the InterContinental Hotel, Dublin 4. SII is Ireland’s only one-to-one support service for people with a spinal cord injury and provides a range of services and resources including access to its community outreach team, counselling, and a comprehensive educational programme.
The event, sponsored by the Institute of Education, was organised by SII’s Philip Quinlan and the committee including Professor Caitriona Ryan, Emmet Kilduff, Fiona McGouran, Una Kearns and Lizzie Burke.
Among the attendees were Sarah Lipsett, Robert Hoban, Eimear Smith, Consultant at the NRH, Janice Walshe, Consultant at St Vincent’s Hospital, and model Gail Kaneswaran.
The event included a raffle and auction, as well as a talk by Declan Naughton who told the guests how he sustained a spinal cord injury in 2018 and how the SII peer support programme assisted him.
The event raised raised €115,000 for Spinal Injuries Ireland services.
