The Marie Keating Foundation was founded when the Keating family lost their mother Marie to breast cancer. One of the Foundation’s first fundraising initiatives was to organise an Irish charity golf tournament.

Now in its 25th year, the event is hosted annually by the Foundation’s patron Ronan Keating. This year he was joined by golfing legend and friend Gary Player as his co-host. Mr Player has won nine major championships on the regular tour and nine major championships on the Champions Tour.

Over 30 teams participated in the charity golf tournament held at the K Club, Co Kildare. Guests had the opportunity to play with celebrities and sporting legends including Padraig Harrington, Shay Given, Dennis Taylor, Sir Steve Redgrave and Jimmy Nesbit.

After the tournament there was a prize giving ceremony and gala dinner. The funds raised go to the Foundation’s cancer awareness and support services for men and women and Blair Atholl, the children’s charity in South Africa of which Mr Player is patron.
