This high profile fundraising event was held at Leopardstown Pavilion, Dublin
Held at Leopardstown Racecourse, Dublin, this high profile event brought together 400 friends and supporters of the Breast Cancer Ireland community. It was the first time they had gathered in three years to help fundraise for critical research, education and awareness programmes.
Hosted by Aisling Hurley, CEO of Breast Cancer Ireland, and event sponsor Gavin Hydes, CEO of Joe Duffy Group, master of ceremonies for the event was James Patrice, a longstanding ambassador for Breast Cancer Ireland.
After lunch, there were plenty of prizes, firstly in the Best Dressed competition, which was judged by Gavin Hydes and Joanne Mallon of Ribbon Rouge boutique. The best dressed gent, Richard Duggan, won a bespoke suit from Louis Copeland, while MJ Thornton Kelly received a Ribbon Rouge Boutique voucher and overnight stay for two guests in Barberstown Castle in Co Kildare.
Goffs auctioneer, Nicholas Nugent led the fundraising auction, in which lots included a Van Cleef & Arpels Sweet Alhambra bracelet, a diamond necklace, a round of golf at Adare Manor and VIP tickets to Ladies Day at Ascot. Other surprises included a “Balloon Pop” prize – a luxury stay for two including flights to Dubai, staying at the five-star Bonnington Hotel Jumeirah Beach.
Addresses were also given by Professor Arnie Hill, Chairman of Breast Cancer Ireland and Professor of Surgery, Beaumont Hospital, who outlined reasons for hope and updates relating to breakthroughs in breast cancer treatments and therapies.
The day concluded with entertainment from The Victory Dolls, a trio of female singers, bringing a touch of 1940s and 1950s vintage style to the proceedings.
