Perfume publisher extraordinaire Frédéric Malle held an intimate dinner at The Twenty Two London, the Mayfair member’s club and restaurant that’s currently the new Chiltern Firehouse – the buzziest address to entertain (and be seen in). The plush dark velvet member’s bar, with leopard-print carpet, has a louche and decadent appeal.
Twenty-two guests gathered with Malle in the sage-green private dining room, including Alexa Chung, Josephine de la Baume and the British Fashion Council’s Jamie Gill, founder of The Outsiders Perspective, plus curators from the National Gallery; Malle had enjoyed a tour of the After Impressionism exhibition (showing until August 13) during his whistlestop visit to London.
The menu featured burrata and tomatoes, sole meuniere and a chocolate and pear dessert. We’re inspired by the simple white candles and vases of white anemones as a cool, classic way to decorate a table.
